This workshop presented by WSU and YVCC will include basic goat and sheep husbandry topics such as: Selection, Quality Assurance, Nutrition, Health, and Welfare. Following the presentation will be a question and answer session. Experience with goats and/or sheep would be beneficial to workshop attendees, but not necessary. Wine Sensory Defects Workshop *New*
April 15 • 10-12:30 p.m. • YVCC Grandview • Fee per person: $200
This seminar, led by Vinquiry’s Sensory Scientist Denise Gardner and Enologist John Katchmer, will discuss various aspects of visual, aroma, and flavor defects in wine. Descriptions of these defects, how they originate in wine, what to do to prevent their formation and the steps needed to correct them will be covered. Using prepared and commercial wines, participants will learn to identify visual defects and common aroma defects. They will come away with the knowledge to arrive at better winemaking decisions and improved confidence in their ability to identify wine sensory defects.

Microscope Workshop: Identification of Wine Microbes *New*
May 13 • YVCC Grandview • Fee per person: $150
Vinquiry’s microbiologist will conduct this 2½ hour seminar on microscope techniques. Topics will include general microscope maintenance, Kohler illumination, identification of wine bacteria, identification of common yeast on culture plates and under the microscope, and yeast viability staining. This hands-on class will be limited to 10 people in order for each participant to receive individual attention to further their knowledge of microbiological techniques and microscope maintenance. If possible, please bring your own microscope to the class.

Bettering Your Business Workshops
Intermediate Microsoft Word
March 18, Session 1: 1-4pm or Session 2: 6-9pm • YVCC Grandview
If you have some familiarity with Word 2007 but want to do more, come to the intermediate workshop where you will build on the skills taught in the introductory Word class. Some of the additional topics you will learn about include working with drawing tools, changing styles and formatting, conducting a mail merge, and building a table of contents.
First Aid - CPR *New*
March 25, 12:30-4:30pm • YVCC Grandview
This class will teach First Aid and CPR procedures according to the latest standards and guidelines of the American Heart Association. The training is accepted under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act (WISHA), and Labor and Industry guidelines. Each participant will receive a First Aid and CPR card that is valid for two years. Cost is $35.00 per person. No chamber of commerce discounts apply to this workshop.

If you have used Excel but don’t feel like you are fully utilizing its capabilities, the intermediate Excel workshop is for you. You will build on what was covered in the introductory workshop, create lists and charts, work with functions, add themes, subtotal data, and more!
QuickBooks I

This is a hands-on workshop where you will learn how to use the power of QuickBooks to bill and track income, administer your expenses, and help you manage employee payroll. This workshop is great for someone who is just starting to use QuickBooks or is already using it.
QuickBooks II
May 12, 1-4pm • YVCC Grandview
After a month of applying what you learned in the first workshop, this is an opportunity for you to return with your questions. You will have the chance to review what you previously learned, troubleshoot specific problems with the instructor, and learn some additional skills with QuickBooks.
