Cultivating Success - Sustainable Small Farming & Ranching

Tuesdays, January 25 - May 3, 2011 • 5:30-8:30 PM • Online

This 15-week course will assist beginning and existing agricultural entrepreneurs with sustainable planning and field-level skills to operate a farm.The course is designed to utilize knowledge of local seasoned farmers and WSU experts on topics from whole-farm planning to marketing. In addition, visit to local farms will help build upon class lectures and at-home reading. If you have always dreamed of managing a farm, this is the class for you!

Where: Two-Options For Online Access
1.) On site: YVCC- Grandview Campus, 500 Main Street, Grandview, 98930
2.) Personal Computer: This class will be broadcast each night via the Internet. Requires a high speed Internet connection.

Agricultura y Ganadería Sostenible en Pequeñas Parcelas

Este curso provee a productores agrícolas las herramientas necesarias para desarrollar un plan agrícola, tomar decisiones acertadas, información práctica y el apoyo necesario para desarrollar una empresa Agrícola sostenible. El curso incluye un pequeño manual con lo que se va a discutir en cada sesión, la participación de expertos invitados, discusión en clase y la oportunidad de relacionarse con otros productores del área. Este curso es único en educación comunitaria donde se aprende sobre un plan total de la granja, mercadeo directo, manejo del suelo, sistemas de producción agropecuarios, presupuestos agrícolas, manejo integrado de plagas, manejo de malezas y mucho mas.!! Introduction to Viticulture & Advanced Viticulture - Hispanic Education

November 12, 2010 - March 25, 2011; Fridays • 8:00A.M. - 5:00p.m. • YVCC Grandview

This certificate program is designed to increase the professional abilities of agricultural employees (and their contributions to operations) through greater understanding of viticulture including Vine Physiology and Morphology, Canopy Management, and Soils and Climate.Advanced Viticulture course focuses on Sustainable Practices and an advanced in-depth study of above topics.

Hispanic Employee Education Program is a 19-credit certificate program (19-weeks) (190 hours of instruction). Students receive a certificate of completion and completion of course replaces AGSCI 135 General Viticulture (YVCC). Special Course Fee $250.00 Course is taught in Spanish.
